The lowdown:

The Director, Content Strategy will develop and spearhead the editorial and social media strategy in partnership with merchants and marketing teams, ensuring complete integration across all channels and delivery consistent with the company’s overall goals. This role collaborates with key stakeholders to set the company’s content and social media (organic) objectives across all categories.

Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • In conjunction with the DVP, Marketing Campaigns, develop and lead the multi cross functional content and social media strategy that delivers sales and drive store traffic that support the merchant and vendor divisional business strategies. Includes:
  • Demonstrating thought-leadership
  • Ensuring solutions are based on strong analytics and insights
  • Ensuring the path to move from strategy to execution is clearly laid out
  • Presenting findings and recommendations in a compelling way at an executive level
  • Builds creative content strategies utilizing various platforms such as ecommerce, emails, social and paid media
  • Oversee the multi cross functional social media strategy (organic) to increase engagement on Holts’ social media accounts & growth in new followers generating awareness and driving traffic to stores and on-line
  • Develop content marketing initiatives by leveraging industry and seasonal trends, key brands to drive traffic, engagement, and sales
  • Lead multi cross-functional content strategy that deliver sales and drive store traffic that support the divisional merchant business strategies
  • Leads and owns the content calendar and social media calendar that aligns with marketing campaign themes and goals (excluding WeChat & Weibo)
  • Collaborate with marketing team to deliver an effective content marketing strategy and editorial plan to enhance our merchant priorities, build customer awareness and drive sales and engagement.
  • Collaborate with marketing team to align social media calendar to support with other marketing activities
  • Analyze sales and analytic reports by program to guide program decisions in relation to company objectives and brand growth goals
  • Leads the daily functionality of:
    • Managing work back, program flow and implementation with both internal and external teams ensuring all program deliverables are on time
    • Overseeing marketing briefs for all content marketing programs ensuring accuracy with timing, targeting as well as manage all approvals for programs
    • Overseeing the execution of the social media calendar (excluding WeChat & Weibo)
    • Overseeing the interaction of directing customer queries on social media to the appropriate internal teams (customer service, PR, merchants…), while tracking and engaging with those to ensure those queries are resolved
    • Supporting with preparation of marketing strategies for key vendor seasonal/annual business reviews including program and budget forecast, post mortems, ROI, brand & division customer analytic overviews and new strategic ideas
    • Supporting with preparation of internal and external presentations to communicate divisional marketing strategies, plans, vendor proposals and tactics as required (e.g. GM conference & vendor meeting inputs, vendor proposals)
  • Support DVP, Marketing Campaigns on corporate projects and new initiatives
  • Complies with all Health & Safety policies and requirements
  • Lead, motivate, and retain a team of high performing employees that is capable of delivering results

The ideal candidate:

  • Post-secondary degree in a related field or equivalent work experience
  • 10+ years of post-university work experience, including a minimum of 5+ years leading a business unit or enterprise-wide strategy  
  • Demonstrated leadership and influencing skills with the ability to get things done 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; a team player who is able to act as both a leader and an individual contributor as required
  • Confident and effective communication (written & verbal) and interpersonal skills
  • Is adaptable and comfortable with ambiguity and change 
  • Passionate about fashion and luxury retailing
