Over the last year, the dating app Bumble has become so much more than a place to get sent a bunch of unsolicited dick pics and “u up?” messages at 3AM. The platform now has a Bumble BFF pivot as well as a Bumble for Biz to become a means to connect to potential partners as well as friends and business associates.

This weekend from May 4 to 6, the app will host a pop-up of empowerment events at the new Toronto location to connect women while helping them be better women.

All ladies with Bumble accounts are welcome.

This is the breakdown of the three-day popup.



1:00PM – Maintaining a sense of self in motherhood

  • PR exec, entrepreneur and Toronto mover-and-shaker Suzanne Cohon leads a discussion with prominent working moms about how motherhood has shaped their work and life – for better and for worse.

2:00PM – The Dos and Don’ts of Online Dating

  • Bumble’s in-house sociologist Dr. Jess Carbino gets to the honest truth about online dating. What works, what doesn’t, and how to find success—whatever that might mean to you.

3:00PM – Bumble in the age of #MeToo

  • Alex WilliamsonSamantha Fulgham and Chelsea Maclin, some of Bumble’s earliest team members, will open up about what it was like to start a company based around the values of being kind and respectful, and what’s changed (and hasn’t changed) in the age of #MeToo.

4:00PM –  A healthy sex life and the single girl

  • Bumble’s in-house sociologist Dr. Jess Carbino talks to Bianca Venerayan and Alyssa Garrison about what it means to be single in 2018, how to avoid those idealized romantic pitfalls, and how to maintain a healthy sex life. Come with your questions!

6:00PM – The Kit presents: The power of female friendships

  • The Kit’s Editor-in-Chief Laura deCarufel leads a conversation about how impactful friendship can be in every aspect of life – everything from connecting to the world around you to getting a business off the ground.
